Im taking a trip out to Denver in mid august. I wanted to see if I could find a secluded hot spring pool not too far from both cities. I dont mind hiking a little, just something other than these commercialized hot spring resorts. Any locals know of any cool spots?

If you go more south than colorado springs you hit Buena vista. there are hot springs near there and some really good trails. The collegiate peaks are nar there if you are interested in climbing 14ers.
Well, there are Mt. Princeton hot springs near Buena Vista, but that is pretty far away from Colorado Springs. Also it is not south, it is about 80 miles due west! They are nice though because you can actually sit in a river that is cold except where the hot springs feed into it by the bank. There is also a pool.
There are closer hot springs near Denver in a town called Idaho Springs. They have a pool as well as saunas all fed by natural hot springs. This town is about 20 miles west of Denver.
Nothing near either place….and that is the truth…you have to go up into the mountains to find the spots you are thinking about…. Orvis, south of Montrose on the way to Ouray….there are others, but if I told you about them…..I would be in deep trouble with others….
Check out the Indian Springs Resort in Idaho Springs. That’s a 35 to 45 minute drive west of Denver.
The closest is Indian Springs in Idaho Springs, about half an hour west of Denver on I-70. It’s not private…you pay to get in and it’s like Glenwood Springs, but much smaller. No big huge pool. Just caves, I think.
