I have looked at buying apple wood online but it’s as expensive to ship it as it to buy it. Any suggestions in southern colorado would by great, although i am going to Denver in a few weeks so i would be happy to see any ideas in that region as well. Thanks for the help.

You can buy a variety of smoking chips at Bass Pro Shop in Denver or you can buy small bags of apple or cherry from King Soopers or a Lowes. Ive never looked at Home Depot but know that Lowes tries to carry an extensive selection of smoking chips. Just a word, soak them at least an hour before, I use a double foil tray alot. Also for a twist on pork, add a few cinnamon sticks to your apple wood. Hopes this helps, later, Kevin
Probably anywhere that sells outdoor grilling accessories – a Bar-B-Q store, even a Home Depot – would probably have applewood chips available. I know here in Florida we can buy hickory and other types of wood chips (not quite sure about applewood – never looked) right in the local supermarket.
Huuum!!!
So you need to look for an Apple orchard in your area.
look in your phone book – - Orchards
check your local Departments of Agriculture’s.
contact the farmer
there must bee 100 crab apple trees in our city… most are neglected and the fruit just fall to the ground
pick up a new entrepreneurial skill get certified to prune the trees
Pssst apple cider mills have spent mash dried should make smoke
This is a 9lb. box for $18 and $8 S&H on amazon:
Here’s another option:
You can order from grilldemon.com. they carry apple, cedar, and many other types.
I know I stumbled on this a little late but just in case you find this, there’s a place in Franktown (just east of Castle Rock)that carries every type of wood you like to smoke with. They sell it in chunks and also in logs. I get a bundle of applewood for $10. However applewood is very hard so if you use chunks more I recommend getting already cut. The place is Franktown Firewood. Hope this helps!!
