  Minimum Age for Learning Permit 15 years

  Learner Permit holding Period 12 months

  Minimum amount of supervised driving 50 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction

  Minimum Age for Driver License 16 years

  Road Test Yes

  Unsupervised driving rules Licensed minors cannot drive between midnight and 5 a.m. for the first year they have their license

  Passenger rules Licensed minors may not carry a passenger under 21 who is not a family member until they have had a license for at least 6 months and may not carry more than one passenger under 21 who is not a family member until they have had held a license for 12 months.

  Driver education is a requirement for applicants who are minors
