Tiffany asked:

I would like to go to an indoor or outdoor shooting range near Colorado Springs. Is there any? I know there was Rampart Range- but did it close after the guy got shot? Thanks for you help!

no shooting range is free unless you own it or its on your land

Colorado does have free ranges, Brendan.

I found this recently while looking for the same thing around Denver. I haven’t been there, yet, since it looks like about an hour at least from where I am, but I will try it out soon. It’s in the Pike National Forest:

Directions: To get to the South Rampart Shooting Range from I-25 take exit 141 west. This will place you on Cimarron Street also known as Hightway 24. Travel west on Cimarron Street approximately five miles until you reach the Manitou Springs exit. Get off on the Manitou Springs exit travelling west. This will take you under Cimarron Street. Turn right on Garden of the God’s Place, i.e., the first street past the Cimarron Street overpass. A short distance from here you will turn right on Garden of the God’s Road. Follow Garden of the God’s Road to Balancing Rock. You will see Forest Development Road (FDR) 300 on the left a short distance past Balancing Rock. When you turn on to this road you will see a sign that identifies the road as FDR 300. Follow this road approximately six miles to the Rampart Shooting Range.

The link below shows a map of Colorado shooting ranges.

If you go, could you email me with your opinion of the range?

There are several free ranges around the state some are DOW, and USFS but most are BLM. When I lived in Springs there was one on Old Stage Road near Rosemont. (but that was over 20 years ago and not sure if it is still there, there was also one by Garden of the Gods but that area is now all houses)

There is a BLM range off Garden Park (about 1/2 way between Canon City and Red Canyon Park) Contact your local BLM office or the DOW they would know better than Yahoo Answers.

Also cheap but not free is the indoor City range in City Park in Pueblo (next to Pueblo Zoo)
